All painting is a pleasure of creativity but mixed with some angst of problem-solving to keep it challenging and interesting. However, between focused, serious work, it is a nice break sometimes to just fool around and see what develops. I call these unstructured interludes simply 'play' time; it serves to break any tightness I’ve dropped into and recharges my energies and creativity for more serious painting.
It is a happy talent to know how to play. —Ralph Waldo Emerson
