Mardi Gras

11" x 9" watercolour on 74# synthetic Yupo paper

I’m primarily a landscape painter but like to play from time to time, experimenting with abstract, non-representational images. Such paintings are liberating to me because I ‘let’ them become whatever develops, adjusting form, value and colour as I go along. There is still a lot of thought that goes into each piece but the process does not start with a set plan; rather, each choice—only once made—influences what the next choice or decision will be. I enjoy the flow of painting this way.
