8" x 10" watercolour on 140# Arches hot-pressed paper
This somewhat stylized painting is one of a series of florals I’ve done. This one was inspired by ‘someone’ who said her mother’s favourite flower had been Lily-of-the-Valley. As it happens, her mother is my own grandmother and the flower is also my birth-month flower. Apparently, it’s a symbol of humility, chastity and sweetness and portends “a return to happiness”. How could I resist? They called me to paint them!
