8" x 10" watercolour on 140# Arches cold-pressed paper
The back roads of the Cowichan Valley are popular with cyclists and discovering heritage farm views, farm gate sales, and even out-of-the-way eateries—there’s even a tea farm on Richard’s Trail and a French bakery on Mays Road, both recommended on a Sunday drive, walk or cycle. This view off Richard’s Trail didn’t originally have a horse in it but I added one for the many seen in the area and my sisters who keep horses. I also did a little experimenting with random lift-outs of colour; I thought it made for a more interesting painting! You might not agree, but I had fun!
