Summers in the Cowichan Valley always eventually spin its fields into gold. Two of my sisters keep horses, and it is through them that I came to appreciate the value of a good hay crop. Never mind the beautiful vistas of rolling golden fields, they represent an essential resource for the variety of livestock raised on valley farms.
