Remembrance

9" x 12" original watercolour on 74# Yupo synthetic paper

This relatively loose painting was inspired by the poppies that bloomed this summer along the fence beside Russell's Market. While a departure from my focus on landscape, it is to remember and honour the too-many souls, who have lost their lives in service to others and country. I found the meditative nature of painting, in silence and solitude, more reflective and meaningful to me than one minute of silence on November 11th. My hope is that anyone living with the painting would 'remember' daily instead of the once, annually.
