8" x 10" watercolour on 140# Arches cold-pressed paper
This painting is inspired by photographs I took at Union Bay on my way with my two grandsons to see the dinosaur exhibit at the Courtenay Museum. We had a picnic lunch at this spot, with plenty of time to turn over many beach rocks, inspect crabs and critters, and practice chipping shoreline rocks for elusive fossils. It was a great day but with the fossils being found later at the museum and then, with hammers in our hands, in the rocks of the Trent River. This painting is to acknowledge the wonderful experiences available in our own Vancouver Island ‘back yards’—no need to travel afar!
