Shore Surge

8" x 10" watercolour on 140# Arches cold-pressed paper

When exploring or meandering along coastal shores, it’s wise to be observant of the patterns of its waves and tides. It’s prudent also to be especially wary of the rogue wave or unexpected surges of water that, in a moment, can flood what seems safe, high ground. These shore surges can knock you off your footing and pull you into deep, turbulent water. The awesome beauty of the ocean calls us down to its beckoning shores but ideally is balanced with our respect for its wild and powerful nature.
