Venus over Kennedy Lake

This acrylic painting was inspired by a January trip to Vancouver Island's west coast and photos taken by my son. But only the location and Venus, in view that evening, are true; I took great license with the sky, the details of tree-top fringe and the perched eagle. All possible for the location but an interpretation to suit my composition. The subject also coincided with the topic of my local art group’s quarterly challenge—to paint a nocturne, a subject at twilight or in a nighttime setting.
