30" x 24" acrylic on canvas - SOLD
The painting is of a towering old tree that was a favourite of the individual who received it as a commission and who had bemoaned that the tree had crashed to the ground late last fall. Some of you may recall a similar, much smaller painting I did four years ago, which was inspired by the same tree but with much more artistic license taken. This version more closely represents the actual tree and now, as a painting, commemorates the ancient tree beyond its lifespan. Hopefully its remains are now nourishing future trees and other flora of the forest floor. Still, it will be missed in the viewscape by all those who admired it in its original location along side the main highway on Vancouver Island.
