18" x 36" acrylic on canvas (sold)
This painting is about reflection in two senses. On the surface, it’s a contemplation of still water and nature’s abundance but, more deeply, it’s meant as an encouragement to a more conscious, more thoughtful, reflection. “Still Sanctuary” is both to assure and to question. Yes, there still is sanctuary, still a safe haven and refuge for us and other species, but before resting too long in any reverie or bliss, it asks of the future: Still sanctuary? We count our blessings and, where wise, cooperate to ensure nature’s endurance and security —and our own—today and for all who will carry our interdependent generations forward. Let us be grateful together and always.
