8" x 10" watercolour on 140# Daler-Rowney cold-pressed paper
This painting is a response to a challenge put to me by a fellow painter. He wondered what I would paint if I was given its title, “Pinnacle”, first, before planning a painting. I normally start with a concept, develop the painting and then name it. I thought a mountain peak would be an obvious scene—too obvious—so went beyond, adding an eagle (a ‘peak’ bird species sighting for many) and setting it on the ‘pinnacle’ of a tree top.
