I painted another version of this shoreline view a while before this one. In that version I’d removed the two tall trees prominent in this version and which in reality are there. I’d made the change to improve the painting’s composition. This version shifts the view left, keeping in the trees but without the house that was in view of the first version. I felt the tall trees, while scrawny, should be acknowledged if not honored for their tenacity.
