10" x 10" acrylic on deep canvas
My sister drives to Campbell River fairly frequently and often comments on a dead snag she sees that always has eagles resting on its broken limbs. She told me about it because, many years ago in the 1980s (just to date myself), I painted another cedar snag that was on the roadside just before entering Pacific Rim National Park; she has that earlier painting. Wanting to experiment with a concept and using her recent ‘favorite tree’ as inspiration, I decided to paint this quite small acrylic painting; as always, lots of license taken.
