8" x 10" watercolour on 140# Arches cold-pressed paper (Sold)
This painting was done after doing many landscape paintings in a row that were predominantly green, which is an obvious choice for a landscape; however, there can be landscapes, such as autumn scenes, that have little or no green. This painting was done without any green at all, even painting the more distant evergreen trees blue. Somehow, through perceiving the relative values of lightness and darkness, the brain still ‘knows’ they’re evergreens.
