Somenos Marsh

Somenos Marsh is a beautiful wetland in North Cowichan along the Trans-Canada Highway. While it is immediately adjacent to an urban area, it provides critical habitat for hundreds of migrating bird species, is easily accessed for wildlife viewing and acts as a natural reservoir in cycles of seasonal flooding. The marsh is an inspiration for painters and artistic interpretation, as represented in this evening view.
