Chemainus River Bend

This painting was inspired by a day spent exploring the Chemainus River with the Cowichan Valley Naturalists. The day was hosted by the Halalt First Nation of the Naut'sa Mawt Tribal Council. I came away with a greater understanding of the history of and the pressures on the river system, as well as a new appreciation of the salmon species that depend on its continuing good health.
